Hippo rising from the Chobe River waters
Trying to get a good hippo shot I asked my guide to keep the boat close. But as hippos are very dangerous and kill more people than any other wild creature in Africa, Kebby was keeping an eagle-eye out for the tell-tale signs of their approach. Suddenly he revved the engine and sped our boat to a safe distance. Looking back, this hippo surfaced just where our boat had been a moment before. Waiting patiently and watching for the ripples helped me get this great shot, and cropping in tight afterwards makes for a more dramatic result.
